The Ramsay Community Association board of directors is proposing an update to the RCA bylaws at the upcoming Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, November 4 at 7 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend the online AGM — please RSVP to receive the link.

The proposed change is to reduce the number of general meetings held each year, from a minimum of nine down to a minimum of three:

Current RCA bylaws

Proposed RCA bylaws

  • 5.1 General Meetings of the Membership

    • 5.1.1 All General Meetings of the Membership are open to the public.

    • 5.1.2 At least nine (9) General Meetings of the Membership will be held each year on the dates and at the times and in the places determined by the Board.

  • 5.1 General Meetings of the Membership

    • 5.1.1 All General Meetings of the Membership are open to the public.

    • 5.1.2 At least nine (9) three (3) General Meetings of the Membership will be held each year on the dates and at the times and in the places determined by the Board.

The goal of this update is to make meetings more focused and effective, while giving volunteers more time to work on community projects and initiatives. In recent years, quorum has sometimes been difficult to reach at general meetings, and this change will help ensure stronger participation when we do meet.

RCA members will continue to get opportunities for input during the annual general meeting and a minimum of 3 other general meetings, in addition to reaching out to the RCA and board directly or requesting special meetings.

Please email Jeff Wiehler at jeff.w@ramsaycalgary.ca if you have any questions or comments about the bylaw changes.

RSVP here to join the AGM on Nov. 4 at 7 pm. The AGM will be online so you can join from anywhere!
