More Pool Hours, More Proof We Need Them

Good news for Inglewood Pool regulars: starting September 14th, Monday mornings are joining Wednesdays on the expanded schedule, with the pool opening at 6 AM.

This didn't happen by accident. It's the latest step from the group that fought to save the pool from closure in 2024, working with Councillor Clark and the City to prove this pool matters.

Why this is a trial, not a victory lap

The City has agreed to boost programs and hours for 8 months — and they'll be watching usage closely. The message is simple: show up, and the City may be open to extending the life of the current facility (and even exploring longer-term aquatic solutions for the core communities). Stay quiet, and this becomes a missed opportunity.

The schedule isn't full yet. The City, local schools, and community groups are still working out what's possible. One easy win right now: swim lessons are underbooked. If you've been meaning to sign the kids up (or yourself), now's the time.

What you can do

  • Use the pool. Morning swims, lessons, drop-ins — every visit is data.

  • Check the schedule. liveandplay.calgary.ca/Inglewood Drop-In

  • Spread the word. The more of the community shows up, the stronger the case.

The bigger picture

This is part of the same push that saved the pool in 2024. The community was clear then and remains clear now: aquatic access is a fitness and safety essential that belongs close to home — not just concentrated in large facilities like the MNP Centre outside the core. Those close-to-home options have been quietly disappearing for years. This is a chance to reverse that.

More updates to come. For now — go swim.
